Overview
Under the guidance of NFTS’ highly qualified tutors, ‘Script Analysis’ is a course aimed to further develop and strengthen a student’s skillbase.
This course will be delivered by Clive Frayne, the Development Executive for Script Compass, a London-based firm that provides development packages and professional development consultation to the independent film industry. Providing in-depth script analysis and development guidance to independent producers, directors, and screenwriters, he is also the author of the critically acclaimed screenwriting book, “The Process of Screenwriting.”
Course description
‘Script Analysis’ is an essential course to finetune a participant’s script development, research, and process through dedicated, personalized training. This course will be delivered by Clive Frayne, the Development Executive for Script Compass, a London-based firm that provides development packages and professional development consultation to the independent film industry. Key skills taught include:
- How to effectively colour-code and interpret a spreadsheet analysis of a script
- The four key questions every writer should be able to answer about their script
- How to decide, objectively, how extensive the rewrite should be
Entry requirements
Previous production experience is desirable. Applicants from other fields should demonstrate passion for pursuing a career in film or TV screenwriting.
They would also need to be 18 years old or over and have a good command of the English language, as the course will be delivered in English.

The applicants need to complete an online application form, in which they will elaborate on their professional background, education and experience and explain what their goals are and why they are applying for the course.
