Overview

Under the guidance of NFTS’ highly qualified teaching staff, the students will be given an in-depth presentation of Production Management.
The course will give the opportunity to students to further develop their knowledge and skills to follow successful careers.
This course will be delivered by Paul Sarony, a well-established Line Producer with credits including, Inversion, Juliet Naked. Show Dogs Vampire Academy –Blood Sisters; The Man Who Would Be Bond; Hysteria, These Foolish Things;, Mrs. Brown; Welcome to Sarajevo; Bhaji on the Beach; Hideous Kinky, and The Englishman Went Up A Hill and Came Down A Mountain and producing major TV Series for Netflix; NBC/Universal; Marvel & Disney. He was Production Adviser on the Oscar-winning film Shine and formerly General Manager of HTV International. Paul is a member of the Skillset 100 – a group of experts available to the Skillset Screen Academy network. Most recent credits Producer Series 3 The Great.

Course Description

This course provides a thorough understanding of the essential role and responsibilities of the Production Manager across film and HETV, and the principles and practices of the work involved in one of the most exciting and challenging career paths within the screen sector.
On this 5-day course, participants will gain a full practical understanding of the role through seminars, exercises, and guest speaker sessions all based on real-life experience and best practices.

The course covers:

  • Role, function and responsibilities of a production manager
  • Overview of breaking down and scheduling a script on Movie Magic Scheduling
  • Setting up the production office
  • The principles of budgeting, introduced on Movie Magic Budgeting
  • Contracts and Agreements
  • Cashflows, cost reports and managing money
  • Health and Safety
  • The Unit: on location
  • Locations, Stunts, SFX and Health and Safety
  • Progress Reports
  • Post-production and deliverables
  • Organisational and Project Management Skills

Entry requirements

Previous production experience is desirable. Applicants from other fields should demonstrate passion for pursuing a career in film or TV development team.
They would also need to be 18 years old or over and have a good command of the English language, as the course will be delivered in English.
