Overview
Under the guidance of NFTS’ highly qualified teaching staff, the students will be given an in-depth presentation of Line Producers. The course will give the opportunity to students to further develop their knowledge and skills to follow successful careers as Line Producers.
This course will be delivered by Paul Sarony is a well-established Line Producer with credits including, Inversion, Juliet Naked. Show Dogs Vampire Academy –Blood Sisters; The Man Who Would Be Bond; Hysteria, These Foolish Things;, Mrs. Brown; Welcome to Sarajevo; Bhaji on the Beach; Hideous Kinky, and The Englishman Went Up A Hill and Came Down A Mountain and producing major TV Series for Netflix; NBC/Universal; Marvel & Disney. He was Production Adviser on the Oscar-winning film Shine and formerly General Manager of HTV International. Paul is a member of the Skillset 100 – a group of experts available to the Skillset Screen Academy network. Most recent credits Producer Series 3 The Great.
Course Description
This course aims to help you understand what the role encompasses - from working with your producer during financing, setting up the production, reporting during production and finally handing over during post. The course is primarily focused on feature films but will also touch on how working on TV drama differs.
This is an informal but structured course, which includes exercises designed to improve skills and increase confidence.
- Line Producer responsibilities: fiscal, financial and personnel
- General film finance including where and how a film is traditionally financed
- A completion bond: what is it, who is it for and how we get one
- Overview of Final Draft software for breaking down and tagging scripts
- Overview of Movie Magic Scheduling software
- Overview of Movie Magic Budgeting software
- How and who to cost report to
- H and S: including stunts, vehicles, locations, mental health
- Film insurance: general production, FUTI, vehicle and E&O
- People management
Entry requirements
Previous production experience is desirable. Applicants from other fields should demonstrate passion for pursuing a career in film or TV as Line Producers.
They would also need to be 18 years old or over and have a good command of the English language, as the course will be delivered in English.
